Love the Little Things

Farrell'sA few weeks back we took a trip to Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor for the first time to enjoy some ice cream treats.  My youngest daughter, Gwen, decided she wanted the Triple Chocolate Brownie Sundae. This is such a special treat that it’s delivered to your table with a song and drums, very loudly.  The lyrics “Tripe Chocolate Brownie Time” is embedded in your head for weeks. As you can see by her wide-eyed look, this treat may have been a bit much for her stomach to handle, but I assure you, it was all finished at the end as she had help!

This quick little vine video shows a bit more detail.

Love the Little Things Layout Supplies

I used the following Unity Kits of the Month and Itty-Bitty which helped me put the finishing touches the layout needed to make it shine, just like cherries on top!

Love is the Flower

love is the flower

Sometimes I encounter “happy accidents” while crafting my days away.  The above tag is a great example.  When these “happy accidents” occur, I try to go with it and see what happens as I’m not a wasteful crafter.  When cutting the tag using my Silhouette, I neglected to turn off cutting the quote, so when the tag cut (the top layer), it cut the quote into the tag base. Instead of tossing it, I weeded out the letters and printed/cut the tag again (the bottom layer), this time turning off the cut lines for the quote, so that I could place it under the first tag giving it some depth while adding interest.  Now, when holding the tag to the light, the quote illuminates. See the quick little video below of how this effect takes place.

I think it turned out well and it’s a new favorite of mine.  Even if the project didn’t go along as planned, I like it better now.  I’m pretty smitten with the quote by John Lennon. It goes perfectly with the stamped images of the tag which is from the April 2014 SMAK Kit available at Unity Stamp Company.

Unity Blog Hop 04.17.14

Greetings to you all--I’m so happy to have you here!

Today I’ve got a scrapbook layout using April’s SMAK kit with a sentiment from a previous kit of the month and a super simple card using the NEW Sentiment Kit, All About You.

grateful for you everyday

The layout above features a picture of my youngest daughter, Gwen, from a few years back during one of my oldest daughter’s graduations. I love the playful look in her eyes!  I used Unity’s {be inspired} scrapbook sketch (turned on it’s side) AND the color combination from the challenge as well.

(clicking on the image below will take you to this month’s Unity {be inspired} Challenge—COME PLAY ALONG!)

Unity’s NEW All About You Sentiment Kit!

thank you for everything lg

Unity released their monthly sentiment kit today—All About You--and it’s one I was super excited to work with.  Here’s a peek at the rest of the kit below and as used in the card above.  See for yourself—YOU can understand why I was excited.

(clicking on the image below will take you to the product page at Unity)

UK-689A-ALL-ABOUT-YOU LOOK at the possibilities for using this set—they’re endless and the set is just simply a must-have for any stamp enthusiast or otherwise.  It would be an awesome gift to give to a new stamper to start their collection as well.

Thank You For Everything Card Supplies

For the card above, I simply put a sentiment together using Unity’s All About You set to fit my needs and placed it onto a Digital Project Life Title Card from Dear Lizzy’s Daydreamer Mini Kit available at Digital Project Life.  The sentiment was resized in Photoshop Elements, so that it could fit on the Title Card (stamp set scanned into computer—I like to do that). Then I attached the stamped Title Card to the card base, adding some punched hearts using Martha Stewart’s Heart Confetti Punch with complimentary textured cardstock. I applied some Wild Honey Distress Ink to the edges of the card. Quick and easy.  All print-and-cut items were printed and cut using Matte Photo Paper by Staples/Silhouette Cameo/Hewlett Packard Photosmart B8550.

NEW Digital Project Life Azure with some Unity Love

run or dye lg

Last month my daughter, Brandi, and her friend, Sarah, attended their first “Run or Dye” event in Sacramento.  Brandi is always inspiring me to keep my body moving.  She’s a very busy young woman but will always find time a few evenings a week to come by and “walk her mother” up and down the big hill.  There was a time I helped her walk up and down that big hill. Now it’s the other way around and I’m holding onto her. I thank her tremendously for that—she’s helping me stay young, active, and healthy. Maybe someday I’ll be a runner just like her!

The much-anticipated Azure Collection has made its way to Digital Project Life this week.  The collection has a primary color palette with a vintage twist including patterned papers and cards with numbers, letters, lace, and beautiful patterns.  I thought this kit was perfect to use to showcase Brandi’s pictures from the “Run or Dye” event coupling it with a few Unity stamps.

The Azure Edition is 20% off of the regular price until Sunday April 13th.  Below is a peek at the collection kit.
